A custom cake is one made for your moment and no one else’s: your colours, your theme, your message, your design. If you have seen a cake you love or have an idea in your head, here is exactly how ordering a custom cake works at Madge Treats in Accra, so there is nothing mysterious about it.

What “custom” actually means

Every cake we bake is made to order, but a custom cake goes further than picking a size and flavour. It is a specific design: a themed birthday cake for a child, a company logo for a corporate event, a two-tier cake dressed in your wedding colours, or a recreation of a photo you send us. The base cake is the same fresh, from-scratch bake. The difference is the decoration and detail.

Step 1: Send us your idea

Start by messaging us on WhatsApp with:

  • The occasion and the date you need it.
  • Roughly how many people it should feed (or a size if you know it).
  • A photo or description of the design you have in mind.

A picture helps enormously. It does not need to be perfect, even a rough reference tells us the style you are after.

Step 2: We tell you what is possible, honestly

This is the part we take seriously. When you send a design, we tell you honestly what we can achieve, suggest anything we would do differently, and flag anything that is not realistic. We would rather be upfront than over-promise on a cake you are counting on. Then we give you one clear quote.

Step 3: How custom cakes are priced

Custom cakes start from our standard base prices by size and layers. On top of that, custom work is quoted depending on the detail:

  • Hand-piped designs, fondant figures and printed toppers.
  • Fresh flowers, gold detailing and intricate finishes.
  • Fillings, extra layers and tiers.

We confirm the final figure before anything is baked, so you always agree the price first.

Step 4: Order a little ahead

Because a custom cake takes design time as well as baking, order as early as you can, and at least a day ahead for simpler designs, since we can deliver as early as the next working day once payment is confirmed. Larger and more detailed cakes, and wedding cakes, need more notice, so the sooner you message, the better we can plan and hold your date. We bake Monday to Friday.

Step 5: We bake and deliver

Once the design, price and date are agreed and payment is confirmed, we bake your cake fresh for the day. We deliver across Accra, Tema and Kasoa by Yango, Bolt or Uber, with the fare confirmed beforehand and paid to the driver on arrival. Our delivery guide has the details.
